INTERMEDIATE TRANSITION SET

• A "32" is a set-play on a face-off which is an effort to create a fast-break.  This play's effectiveness depends on the positioning of the benches; it usually works best when the offense has the short change (usually in the 2nd period).  It can work from both a "balanced" 2-Back (2-1-2) set-up and a 3-Back set-up (as seen in diagram).
  

• The player behind the restraining line on the defensive side of the face-off (closest to the defensive door) creeps as close as possible to the bench door, while still disguising their true intention of running to the defensive door and releasing a player behind the defender on the opposite restraining line (proper floor side).  Alternatively, it is also possible to only send 4 players out for the face-off and if the opponent doesn't notice, send the player off of the bench after the whistle is blown for the face-off.

• If the face-off taker is able to win the ball directly to any one of the players on the loose ball team, all should be aware of the player coming off of the bench on a breakaway (usually a team's best playmaker), making the pass if it is 60-40 ball or greater.  Practice it during Games Drill #20.
