6-On-5 Play #3C (“Stack – Double Up-Pick”) & Play #3D (“Stack – Up & Down Pick”)
INTERMEDIATE SET PLAYS
3C. Middle Stack - "Double Up-Pick"
- The play begins once there is a "stack" of 1 Lefty & 1 Righty in the middle (in a horizontal line east-west in orientation).
-
- The ball is passed from shooter-to-shooter triggering both middle players to north-south up-seal for the same-handed shooter.
- Both shooters run underneath the seals creating a 2-on-1 with the defender in the middle, with a pass shooter-to-shooter being the first look (Option #1). If the original passer is wide open they can also shoot, but Option #2 is actually a second pass to the off-ball crease player. If neither option presents itself the opposite-handed crease player comes up to the mid-board soft spot (Option #3); filling into the shooter position if necessary.
3D. Middle Stack - "Up & Down Picks"
- The play begins once there is a "stack" of 1 Lefty & 1 Righty in the middle (in a vertical line north-south in orientation). Whichever shooter has the ball, an opposite-handed player should be the higher of the two players in the stack.
