5-On-4 Diamond Play #2 (“Seal The Crease”) & Play #3 (“Dice – Picking/Waiting”)
INTERMEDIATE POWER PLAYS
2. Point - "Seal The Crease"
- The point player passes to the same-side shooter and then runs straight down the middle, sealing the low defender.
- The point player effectively creates a passing lane for a skip pass to the far-side crease player, who can either take a quick stick shot on goal (Option #1) or if possible do a quick stick pass to the opposite crease player for a quick shot (Option #2).
3. Dice - "Picking/Waiting"
- The player in the middle should set multiple picks while players on the outside pass the ball around the horn and use the picks set for them, in attempt to set-up a quality shot (Option #1).
- When the ball is passed to the middle player’s wrong-side, this player should pick on their proper floor side and time a roll to the net whereby they can receive a pass from the far-side as they approach the middle of the defense (Option #2).
- This player may also be used as a decoy, setting up a pass to the back-door crease player (ideally for a quick stick).
