*10C. Circle The Net - "Crease Overload"

• The point player passes to the same-handed shooter, who passes to the same-side crease player (which triggers off-ball shooter to cut through the middle).  The crease player can pass the ball if the cutter is wide-open (Option #1). 

• If the shooter doesn't receive the pass, the crease player passes the ball back up to the same-side shooter who then passes it back to the point player. 

• By this time the original cutter should have circled the net and if the player at that crease position seals their check (overloading the area), the player circling the net should be wide open for a pass (Option #2).

• Variation

  • The off-ball shooter who circles the net can seal the crease position instead of the crease player, with the crease player coming overtop of the seal instead of the shooter who circled the net. 

*10D. Circle The Net - "Scissors" (Off-Ball)

• The point player passes to the opposite-handed shooter, then cuts through the middle and circles around the net.  The shooter passes shooter-to-shooter and back, triggering the play, then the original shooter passes down to the same-side crease player. 

• At this point the off-ball crease player seals their check down and the off-ball shooter seals their checks up, creating enough space for the point player who circled around the net to become open in the middle (Option #1). 

• The secondary option is passing to the player on the strong-side shooter slipping off of their seal, depending on how the defender reacts (Option #2). 

• VARIATION

  • Variation:  Instead of going between the two seals ("scissors"), the point player comes around the net and does an up-seal at the shooter position, with the strong-side shooter cutting through the middle instead of sealing.

• *Note:  Both of these plays also work well against a Diamond defense.
