5-On-5 Play #7C (“North-South Up-Pick 3”) & Play #7D (“East-West Pick – On-Ball”)
INTERMEDIATE SET PLAYS
7C. "North-South" Up-Pick (Strong-Side)
- The strong-side crease player triggers the play running to perform a north-south up-pick for the strong-side shooter.
- At the same time, the point player begins to drag towards the shooter, who seals their check towards the middle.
- As the point player and crease player are arriving at the shooter position, the strong-side shooter slips off of their seal towards the outside lane (Option #1) and the picker rolls towards the middle lane (Option #2).
- If neither of those two options are open, the weak-side shooter filling into the point position is likely to be open (Option #3).
7D. "East-West" Up-Pick (On-Ball)
- Players get into a "dice" formation, immediately or disguised within a regular passing cycle.
- The ball is then passed to the strong-side shooter, which triggers the player in the middle (power forward) to set an east-west up pick on-ball.
