6-On-5 Play #2A (“Point Drag – Down-Pick”) & Play #2B (“Point Drag – Up-Pick”)
INTERMEDIATE SET PLAYS
2A. Point Drag - "Down-Pick"
- The point player drags toward the strong-side shooter, which triggers the play. At the same time the middle player sets a down-pick for the off-ball crease player (Option #1).
- The point player also has the option to shoot (Option #3), or pass to the roller if the crease player isn't open coming around the pick (Option #2).
- Variation: Instead of dragging, the point player makes it look like the Middle-Point Cycle and passes it to the weak side, sealing for the middle defender. The offensive player in the middle then goes and picks for the off-ball crease player once the point player seals the middle defender (instead of coming overtop). The point player also re-seals and "up-seals" the middle defender as that is happening and therefore there's no help once the off-ball crease player catches the skip pass.
2B. Point Drag - "Up-Pick"
- The point player drags toward the strong-side shooter, which triggers the play. At the same time the middle player sets a up-pick for the off-ball shooter (Option #1).
- The point player also has the option to shoot (Option #3), or pass to the roller if the shooter isn't open coming around the pick (Option #2).
