Loose Ball Drill #11A: Face Off Into 5-On-5
INTERMEDIATE
- Begin with two teams of defenders at the face-off circle and a third team of offensive players on the bench, all with different coloured pinnies on. Extra players should be divided evenly on each bench, subbing accordingly.
-
- Variation #1 (15 min): "Face Off Then Line Change." Play begins with a face off, with the team that wins the face-off executing a line change at the bench of the offensive players (long change or short change), with offensive players coming onto the floor and playing a 5-on-5 offensive-set against the team that lost the face-off.
-
- Coaches should beware of the team that loses multiple face-offs in a row, giving an extended rest in between reps, where required.
-
- Variation #2 (15 min): "Game To 7. To add competition, play a game up to 7 goals, with the losing defensive team doing push-ups, sit-ups, body weight squats, sprints, etc. The offense only has 15 minutes (timed) to score the required amount of goals, otherwise they must face the consequence.
