INTERMEDIATE POWER PLAYS

1A. Crease - "Up-Pick"

• The ball carrier passes from shooter-to-shooter, only to receive a quick pass in return (which triggers the start of the play).

• After the return pass, the crease player on the off-ball side does an up-pick for the same-side shooter, who runs underneath it (isolating the low defender).

• This ball carrier can either shoot (Option #3), pass to the far-side crease for a quick stick shot (Option #1), or pass to the player rolling to the middle off of the up-pick (Option #2).

1B. Crease - "Double Up-Pick"

• The ball carrier passes from shooter-to-shooter, only to receive a quick pass in return (which signals the start of the play).

• After the return pass, both crease players do a north-south up-pick for their same-side shooter, with both shooters running underneath the picks (isolating the low defender).

• The ball carrier can then either shoot (Option #3), pass to the far-side crease for a quick stick shot (Option #1), or pass to the far-side picker as they roll to the net after they up-pick (Option #2). 

• Variation:  The on-ball up-pick could also be east-west in orientation, with off-ball up-pick still being north-south and the ball carrier stepping overtop instead of underneath the pick.  This will leave an overloaded off-ball crease position and possibly a quality shot for the ball carrier stepping overtop.
