INTERMEDIATE POWER PLAYS

1. Crease - "Up-Pick & Overload"

• The ball starts on the strong-side and the play is triggered when the ball is passed to the weak-side shooter.

• Once this happens, the strong-side crease player up-picks for the strong-side shooter, who receives a return pass back from the far-side shooter.

• This player runs underneath the pick and the player at the soft spot fills down to the crease position.

• The ball carrier can then either shoot (Option #2), fake the shot and pass to the far-side crease player for a quick stick shot (Option #1), or this player can pass crease-to-crease for a quick stick shot (Option #3).

2A. Dice – Middle "Screen Shot"

• The strong-side shooter passes to the weak-side shooter and then down-picks the low defender (initiating the play).

• At the same time, the player in the middle up-picks the same-side high defender and the same-side crease player cuts to the middle.
  

• The same-side crease player eventually receives a pass in the middle from the far-side crease player and takes a screen shot around the down-pick (Option #1).  If this player is not open, the middle-player who up picked should be open rolling to the net (Option #2). 

• Variation:  Another variation of this play is to run it off ball, with the pass coming from the weak-side.
