(NOT TO SCALE)
Place one cone anywhere on the field. Next, arrange 3 cones in a triangle, with each cone being 10 yards from the center cone. Place one offensive player at each cone. Place one defender on-ball, and two defenders 'splitting' their check and the ball carrier.
-Variation 1: Passing (Shown in diagram)
Offensive players (highlighted in black) will move the ball from player to player in one direction, unless directed otherwise.
One defensive player will approach the ball carrier, while the other two defenders will 'show' adjacent help by communicating 'Left' or 'Right' while splitting their check and the ball carrier, while staying in line with the middle cone. As the ball is moved, the defender closest to the new ball carrier will approach and communicate 'ball', while the other defenders will recover to show help.
Variation 2A: Dodging (Not shown in diagram)
Same as above, except the offensive players will now dodge in an attempt to take the middle. As the ball carrier dodges, the adjacent defender will communicate their slide, and slide to the ball carrier. The 3rd defender will simultaneously split the other two offensive players. The 1st defender will then recover to the middle cone, and the 3rd defender will communicate to direct their recovery. The 3rd defender will then approach the new ball carrier, and the process will repeat.
Variation 2B: Competition (Not shown in diagram)
Replace the middle cone with a bucket. Offensive players will dodge in the same fashion as Variation 2A, in an attempt to drop the ball in the bucket. Defensive players will communicate in an attempt to prevent the ball from going into the bucket. Defensive players get 1 point every 30 seconds that the ball is not in the bucket, and 3 points if the ball is turned over. Offensive players get 2 points for dropping the ball into the bucket.
