Games Drill #5: Sharks & Minnows
- Using the end-boards and/or the rag-lines as boundaries, start with a coach and one volunteer in one or more of the 3 zones (offensive zone, defensive zone, neutral zone) of a lacrosse floor.
- The game ends when every player has lost their ball, or there is one or two players left who still haven’t dropped their ball.
*Variation #2 (5 min): "Neutral Zone Boundaries." Players perform the same drill as above in the neutral zone, with boundaries on both sides (rag lines). This is the hardest variation of this drill and somewhat simulates ragging the ball scenarios.
With 1 or 2 designated Sharks, the minnows have to get to the other side without dropping the ball, or going outside of the boundaries.
Players must sit on the bench or stand outside of the the rag lines if caught by the sharks; rotating two different defenders into the drill at the coaches discretion (each rep or each game).
*Most common error = Failure to adequately protect the ball.
